Job Purpose

• Supervises the implementation of strategic development for nursing and midwifery services by undertaking appropriate interventions, including but not limited to assisting in establishing strategic departmental plans, meeting organizational and departmental objectives, quality improvement processes, and ensuring compliance in accordance with established policies, procedures, and international standards within the specific facility or service

Roles & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the administrative, education, or clinical aspects of the assigned department/unit(s), or for the hospital as a whole when required
• Contributes actively to establishing strategic hospital/health service plans to meet organizational objectives
• Responsible for planning, directing, implementing, coordinating, educating, and evaluating the overall clinical nursing and midwifery practice and administrative activities, including budget, fiscal, material, and human resources management, assuring the delivery of cost-effective, quality patient care within area of assignment
• Facilitates change and the development of research programs within area of assignment
• Active participation in quality improvement programs to provide a patient-focused multidisciplinary approach to patient care
• Contributes to the annual manpower budget and recruitment plan for area of assignment. In coordination with the Assistant Director of Nursing and recruitment team, undertakes the recruitment process, which includes selection, finalization, induction, and orientation
• Contributes to the objective setting and completes the performance management process for senior nurses and midwives under her/his direct supervision
• Reviews all incident reports relating to area of assignment, recommends additional follow-up/escalation as appropriate, tracks trends, and recommends initiatives for change
• Active involvement in identifying risk management issues in area of assignment and contributes to maintaining the risk management register. Identifies strategies for change to reduce severity of identified risks. Contributes to and operationalizes the development of new services within area of assignment
• Prepares departmental/hospital/service statistics, analyses data to identify issues/trends, and recommends appropriate strategies
• Undertakes any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing

Qualification Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing — Required
• License from the relevant health authority, in Assistant Nurse — Required

Experience Requirements

• 8 years' experience (Expat), with at least 4 years in management
• 5 years' experience (UAE National), with at least 2 years in management
