Senior Staff Nurse

Job Purpose

  • The Charge Nurse is a provider of direct patient care and nursing intervention, demonstrates clinical nursing knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice, and utilizes evidence-based practice to achieve quality patient outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care that is evidence based
  • Organizes staff and prioritizes busy workloads/schedules, and acts as a mentor for junior staff. Carries out routine investigations to facilitate decision making
  • Acts as patient advocate by making ethical decisions related to consent and confidentiality
  • Plans and coordinates discharges from hospital as a member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintains and demonstrates clinical competence using evidence-based practice in all aspects of patient care, including those with complex needs
  • Ensures clinical resources and continuity of patient care during hours of duty
  • Effectively communicates all necessary information to Head Nurse and unit staff
  • Assists the Head Nurse in the management of a patient care unit/area of assignment, and acts on behalf of Head Nurse during her/his absence
  • Undertakes additional tasks as appropriate

Qualification Requirements

  • BSC or equivalent in Nursing — Required
  • License from the relevant health authority — Required

Experience Requirements

  • 4 years' experience
  • 2 years in Management Education
